I guess a Hassidic Gentile is one who goes beyond the letter of the law, in the old definition of "Hassid".

If so, the Original Post is very much in line with that thinking.

It could also mean one who has a rebbe and a tzaddik to guide him... but that's not happening so much, is it.. wherever Devon is...

I know of 4 Synagogues in Devon. Three of which are Orthodox!

I see there is mention of a community in Ilfracombe North Devon which would be quite close to me but sadly it closed in 1945, I remember reading about them in The Susser Archives, most of the community came here as part of the war effort along with American service personnel.
Exeter would still be the closest to me.

There's Plymouth, of course. And Exeter. Both buildings are gorgeous.
I'm not sure if Torquay is still operating. They used to offer a flat for a week to any visitor who can read from the Torah and give a sermon on Shabbat! I did talk to them about it once, but the travel plans didn't work out (My son would have done the Torah reading part)
Then there is a Reform congregation in Totnes of all places, at the end of the River Dart.
Even Cornwall has a community too.

Yes indeed, mostly in Falmouth because of the trade going on there I guess,Lemon Hart was a famous Rum trader,supplied the Navy I believe, Jews would come in from Europe to Plymouth and either settle there or migrate from there,some to America and others through the UK, my ancestors stayed in Devon but moved upwards to Mid Devon,around Exeter,Hemyock and eventually North Devon,there are still members of the Hart family living in Plymouth.
