Many thanks to everyone for your replies. After a lot of thought I have decided to keep to my original thinking, that I would feel uncomfortable wearing a Tallit during Shabbat services. After seeing a Jewish person donning a Tallit and wearing it properly,I thought how beautiful the blessing, covering the head and wrapping it around etc. is and that beauty and connection with Hashem should not be lessened by someone that does not have the same obligation as a Jew.

Thanks again,
Dan.

That seems like a well-thought through reason to me. :)
