Of course.

But those should be in addition to working on oneself, not instead of.

OK, fair enough. I learned some time ago that the Lubavitcher Rebbe spoke about the geulah coming in our times. I also heard that Rav Kaduri a'h and other leading Rabbis of our generation such as the Gerrer Rebbe, Rav Mordechai Eliyahu, R'Dovid Avuchazera, Rav Baruch Shapira and a student of the Chafetz Chaim and perhaps others as well also made similar remarks.

It can be an unhealthy obsession. The navi told us to expect that redemption, but also to continue to live our lives -- to build homes, plant vineyards.
